Friday 13 was not my lucky day this time. Due to late departure from Manchester I missed my connection to Johannesburg and had to spend an extra 24 hours at Heathrow and another extra 5 hours at Johannesburg airport. So my stop in Maputo on the 14 was shortened to a few hours of daylight plus a night. My friend Lotta and her ex husband Orlando met me at the airport and showed me around Maputo by car. Lottas sister in law Rosaria gave us room and delicios food.
Early today we took an early flight to Nampula together with AnnaStina who is Lotta s collegue.
It is time to explain the purpose of this trip.
Lotta and AnnaStina work for the Africa Groups of Sweden, a non governmental organization with the areas of intervention Global Justice, Local Development and Sustainability, Public Health and Education. AnnaStina is based in Nampula and Lotta works out of Sweden. They are setting out for a roundtrip by car to the province of Niassa, visiting several communities on the tour. So they are going to work with future cooperation in lcoal development in some remote areas in northern Mozambique. They will prepare a programme with partners to develop the civil societies capacity and possibilities to influence their own situation. I am just a passenger they were good enough to take with them. We are gathering supplies today and early tomorrow morning we are to leave Nampula.
